In popular culture, there’s a notion that love is for young people. It’s in everything we watch on television, all the books we read and across every conceivable platform, but it’s quite removed from reality.
The truth of the matter is, people fall in love at all ages, and being single over 40 means nothing other than the fact that you’ve not met the right person yet. That’s true for everyday people like you and I, and it’s true for celebrities too. Yes, that’s right, even those with the world at their fingertips don’t always find love early.

Elton John and David Furnish – One of the most recognisable couples on the world, Elton John and David Furnish waited until December 2014 to get married to celebrate their ninth year of their civil partnership.
Amy Adams and Darren Le Gallo – The wonderful Amy Adams (The Muppets, Arrival) married her long time love Darren Le Gallo (Date Night, Trouble with the Curve) in 2015 at age 41.
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden – Cameron Diaz might be well known for her roles in romantic comedies like There’s Something About Mary, but the 44-year-old had to wait until last year before she got her own happy ending, when she married Benji Madden. The couple tied the knot in January 2015.
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka – NPH (How I Met your Mother) might play the lothario on screen, but in real life he’s married to actor and professional chef David Burtka, and the two are very much in love. They exchanged vows in Italy in September 2014, when Harris was 41 and Burtka was 40.
Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault – Selma Hayek (Desperado, Frida) found her true love in the form of Kering CEO Francois-Henri Pinault. She was 42 at the time of the wedding in 2009, and he 48.
Jerry Seinfeld and Jessica Seinfeld (nee Sklar) – Legendary stand-up comic and TV star Jerry Seinfeld waited for the right woman and found her in Jessica. The two wed on Christmas Day, 1999, when Jerry was 45 years old.
